Ralli Quilt Gallery II
These authentic ralli quilts have been made by rural women from the Sindh province of Pakistan. They have been purchased from the women themselves. Every effort has been made to get rallis in the best condition possible. Most have been used and may show sings of wear. The rallis are viewed as being very valuable by the communities they come from. They are used to cover the beds and also as blankets to put over the person sleeping. Most are quilted with tiny stitches about 1/8 to ¼ inch apart. Quite a feat as any quilter knows! We hope you enjoy the wonderful craftsmanship and lively colors of these beautiful rallis.

The quilts on this page are called “lassi ralli” or simple ralli. This means they have no patchwork or appliqué designs but the design comes from using printed fabric as the base and the stitching is done in straight lines, often with colored thread or some embroidered shapes. Because they are made on the ground in traditional ralli style, they may be slightly irregular in size. They are all in good condition but may have the charm of use including some worn edges, slight wear and an occasional stain. Please contact us if you have any questions. Lassi Ralli 1 - This ralli has a center panel of pink fabric with printed hearts and arrows. The edge is green with many decorative embroidery stitches. The back is a mixture of printed and plain fabrics.

Lassi Ralli 2 - This fine ralli made with burgundy, gold and navy printed fabric is the perfect size and weight for a twin bed cover. The rows of parallel stitching are done in various colors of thread. The back is off white fabric.

Lassi Ralli 3 - This ralli has a purple patterned fabric in the center field and solid blue on the outside edge. The stitching is very even in multicolored thread. The blue border also has decorative embroidery stitching. The back is off white fabric.

Lassi Ralli 4 - The center field of this ralli is a garden of large pink and gold flowers on a green background. The stitching is very even with parallel rows of multicolored thread. The deep pink border also has decorative embroidery stitches. The back is cream colored fabric.

Lila Handicraft Ralli - This is an example of a newly made ralli by Lila Handicraft. Lila Handicraft is a cooperative of women living in the Thar Desert of Pakistan. The proceeds from their cooperative are going towards supporting a school for their children in the village. This twin sized ralli has both patchwork and appliqué designs. The fabric is hand dyed. The back of this quilt is orange fabric with a black block print.
